Microsoft today updated the Windows release health log. In the list of known issues, it stated that the recently released KB5022913 update has a problem with third-party UI customization applications that cause Win11 to fail to start.

Microsoft explains that third-party custom applications can cause explorer.exe to error out, and it may repeat multiple times in a loop. Microsoft specifically mentioned the two programs StartAllBack and ExplorerPatcher, but other similar user interface customization tools may also cause the problem.

Microsoft recommends that Windows 11 administrators remove the two aforementioned apps and any other apps from their devices before installing the latest cumulative update for the operating system. For users who have already been affected by this issue, Microsoft recommends contacting the developer of the installed application for assistance.
