At the Build 2023 developer conference, in addition to announcing a major design overhaul of its browser and some PWA-related improvements, Microsoft also showed off a set of features to enterprise customers and organizations using Edge. new function.

Microsoft Edge for Business is a new work-focused browser experience with dedicated visual elements and a rich set of enterprise controls, security and productivity features. When a user signs in using Azure Active Directory or AAD, it becomes the standard browser mode activated by the organization.

Microsoft Edge for Business is designed to solve the problems caused by hybrid work where the lines between personal and work experiences blur. On the one hand, customers want to keep their private data, passwords, browsing history, and other parts of their daily browsing separate from the organization. IT administrators, on the other hand, work hard to maintain the company’s security. As a result, many organizations support multiple browsers, which in turn reduces the security and convenience of the experience.

The new work-centric Edge experience separates users’ personal and work lives into dedicated windows with their own icons, cache, browsing data, passwords, storage locations, and more. Additionally, Microsoft hopes to make the switching process automatic and seamless by launching Microsoft Edge for Business when you sign in to Microsoft 365 and other websites with your work account. Since every organization and user has their own needs and preferences, Microsoft allows a list of customizable sites that trigger switching between personal and work experiences.

In addition to providing a more convenient browsing experience for end users, Microsoft Edge for Business also makes life easier for IT administrators, requiring only one browser to complete all tasks. Microsoft says this approach reduces cyberattacks and ensures personal data remains private and in sync with the enterprise.

Microsoft Edge for Business is available in public preview on managed devices starting today and Microsoft says the feature will be available on unmanaged devices in the coming months.
