Microsoft has announced a new version of its Microsoft Teams app for Win10 / Win11 in a public preview. In a blog post, Jeff Teper, president of Microsoft’s collaboration apps and platforms, said the new version of the app was designed with speed and ease of use at its core.

"We always listen to user feedback, so we rebuilt the Teams app around speed, performance, flexibility, and intelligence. It runs 2x faster and uses 50% less memory, so you can save time and collaborate more effectively.
We've also streamlined the user experience to make it easier to use and to find everything in one place. We've also introduced enhancements such as Copilot for Microsoft Teams, announced earlier this month."The major improvements in this update are

- 1X faster app launch
- Joining meetings is 1X faster
- Switching between chats/channels is 70% faster
- Memory usage has been reduced by 50%
- Disk space usage reduced by up to 70%
