0

Amit Hegde, a senior software engineer at Microsoft, suggested three years ago that a portable version of Windows Terminal be developed to simplify copy-and-paste operations. The latest PR request submitted by Microsoft suggests that this feature will be introduced soon.

Developer Dustin L. Howett recently submitted a PR request for Windows Terminal:

The PR focuses on implementing a “portable mode” for Windows Terminal to simplify parallel deployment of different versions.

The PR brings 3 main types of changes:

  • Changes to settings loading
  • Introduced a new indicator in the settings screen, plus a link to the portable mode documentation
  • Enabling the “Terminal (Portable)” application name
