Microsoft OneNote Windows 11 preview version adds support for vertical navigation

0

Back in December last year, it was reported that Microsoft would introduce a new, more accessible layout for OneNote for Windows. Microsoft has now started rolling out new vertical tabs for the OneNote for Windows client.

Microsoft has previously adopted a left-hand navigation layout design for OneNote web, Mac, and iPad clients, and now Microsoft is bringing the same feature to OneNote for Windows clients.

The users can access the vertical layout by navigating to View > Tab Layout > Vertical Tab. If users don’t like the new layout, they can switch to the old horizontal tab and all the partial tabs will appear at the top of the canvas. Users can do this by going to View > Tab Layout > Horizontal Tabs.

Microsoft is currently rolling out vertical tabs for the OneNote for Windows client, but it is currently limited to internal beta projects running version 2302 (internal version 16124.20000) or later. Microsoft also notes that the new layout is not available on OneNote for Windows 10. Microsoft has confirmed that it will maintain support for OneNote for Windows 10 through 2025. the application that will replace it is the new OneNote for Windows client, which has previously hit the Microsoft Store.
