Microsoft, ISRO team up to support Indian space tech start-ups

The Bengaluru-based Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), India’s national space agency, announced a partnership with Microsoft to encourage the Development of space technology start-ups in the country. ISRO operates under the Department of Space (DOS) under the direct supervision of the Prime Minister of India. It mainly executes India’s space program through various centers within ISRO.

Microsoft and ISRO have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at empowering space technology startups across the country by providing all necessary support and helping them become part of the enterprise.

Through this partnership, space technology start-ups identified by ISRO will be included in the Microsoft Start-up Founder Centre. It is a platform that helps start-ups accelerate their growth by getting expert guidance to grow their business.

As such, founders of Indian space technology startups who will be part of the partnership program will receive free access to vital technological tools, as well as the resources they need to set up and run their businesses.

In addition to providing free technology access, Microsoft will provide mentoring support for budding space technology entrepreneurs in areas such as space engineering, cloud technology, product and design, fundraising, sales and marketing.

Finally, through a joint collaboration, Microsoft and ISRO will host knowledge sharing and thought leadership sessions for startups and space industry experts.
