Microsoft is testing new Edge browser codenamed “Phoenix” that will feature rounded corners

0

Microsoft is internally developing a new Edge browser codenamed “Phoenix” to make it more in line with the Win11 design style. Twitter user Leopeva64 found traces of “Phoenix” in the source code of the Edge browser, which basically confirms that Microsoft is developing and testing the project.

Netizens found “msPhoenixShowContainersInEdge” in the page source code of Edge://version, and it is an experimental Flag that enables rounded corners for the outer frame of the browser.

Edge Phoenix is an internal concept that has been in development at Microsoft since the summer of 2022. Some of these new features are already available in the Microsoft Edge preview version. For example, the recently discovered split-screen view, rounded corners and Mica material handling.

Other concepts and ideas for Edge Phoenix have yet to emerge. Windows Central reports that Microsoft is working on a Tab Activity Center feature to provide customers with inside information on browser usage. Think of Tab Activity Center as a localization of the Screen Time feature on iOS (also similar to Digital Health on Android).
