At the IGN TGS 2022 live event, Xbox co-vice president Sarah Bond said more than 150 original Japanese games have arrived on Xbox Series X|S, with more coming sometime in the future. In an interview with Game Watch, Spencer said Xbox is developing “these kinds of games” for their players, and that “a lot of other game developers” are bringing their titles to the Xbox platform.
Spencer said, “We understand that many fans of the game want this, and we know the general demand for Japanese games. We’re working on these kinds of games, so stay tuned.”
On September 17, Sarah Bond, Vice President of Xbox Gaming Ecosystem at Microsoft, was asked on the IGN Japan Live show if Xbox gamers should expect original Xbox-published games in Japan in the future, similar to Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey for Xbox 360.
Sarah Bond replied, “There definitely is. One of the things that I’m really excited about is that we currently have over 250 developers in Japan working on games for Xbox. 150 of them have been released, 100 of them are in Game Pass, and we (recently) announced 15 Asian games and 13 Japanese games. There are already so many, but there will be more to come and I can’t wait to show you.”
It’s worth noting that earlier this year Xbox announced a partnership with Kojima Studios to develop a cloud-native Xbox-exclusive game.
