Microsoft guaranteed Sony that Activision games will continue to be available on the PS console

According to SeekingAlpha reports, Microsoft and Sony recently held a meeting. Microsoft is trying to assure Sony that it will allow Activision’s games to continue to be available on the PlayStation game console and discuss relevant terms at the meeting.

The deal, valued at nearly $69 billion, is the largest acquisition in video game history. Sony has repeatedly opposed the deal, with Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO Jim Ryan saying Microsoft’s original offer to keep Call of Duty on the PlayStation for at least three years was “inadequate,” while Sony argued that once the deal is completed, Microsoft will be able to increase the prices of Xbox games, Xbox consoles and Xbox Game Pass.

Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard is currently undergoing regulatory review in multiple countries, including the Federal Trade Commission in the United States, the CMA in the United Kingdom, and the European Commission in the European Union. So far, the deal has been approved without restriction by Saudi Arabia, Brazil and Serbia.

Prior to this latest development, Microsoft had reportedly offered Sony a 10-year deal to keep Call of Duty on the PlayStation platform as a concession to the European Commission to get approval for the deal. Another recent report stated that the FTC is “likely” to block the deal, with an FTC decision expected in January 2023.
