Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard still needs to overcome many challenges. One of the relatively easy challenges is the lawsuit by gamers who worry that Microsoft will change the “Call of Duty” game into an Xbox exclusive.

A U.S. federal judge rejected the players’ request to block Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard. District Judge Jacqueline Scott Corley explained in the ruling [PDF], as follows:

The plaintiffs failed to demonstrate that players would be irreparably harmed following the merger [Microsoft acquired Activision Blizzard].

Microsoft has currently signed 10-year agreements with multiple platforms, and there is no evidence that Microsoft will suspend the development of the existing Call of Duty series of games after completing the acquisition.
