When Microsoft pushed out the Win11 2023 February Update (Moment 2) in late February this year, the most notable improvement was the direct integration of Bing Chat in the taskbar.

Previous versions of the taskbar search box will have a Bing icon

It’s just that Microsoft’s integrated Bing chat has been widely criticized by users due to its poor functionality. Some Win11 Dev channel users have reported that the search box has been restored to a version without integrated Bing chat.

Based on the above changes, the media inferred that Microsoft plans to remove Bing chat from the taskbar in an update released on March 14. However, this is not the case. The reason for some users to remove is related to the Search Highlights function, which Microsoft has not decided to remove.

A Microsoft spokesperson issued a statement to the foreign technology media TechRader, and the translation is as follows:

"The Search Highlights feature displays content in a daily rotation, and the Bing icon for the search box is displayed in the Search Highlights interface. We will continue to improve the rotation content including the Bing icon in the future. We welcome those in the preview to give us feedback so we can continue to learn and tweak the experience over time."
