Just one day after Microsoft announced its new Edge browser and Bing search engine integration with ChatGPT, there has been a huge explosion of demand for the new app. The Bing app for iOS and the Edge browser are rapidly soaring up the App Store charts.

Analysis from data.ai shows that global downloads of the Bing app jumped 10-fold overnight, making it the 10th most popular free app on Apple’s App Store and the second most popular free productivity app behind Gmail. This has catapulted the app to #10 on Apple’s App Store list of most popular free apps and made it the second most popular free productivity app behind Gmail, while its Edge browser for iOS is also #3 in the utility category.

As a comparison, the Bing app previously ranked 160th among productivity apps and was not even on Apple’s overall free app list at all.

While Microsoft has officially launched a new web and search experience with integrated ChatGPT-like features, users must join a waiting list to get the new smart experience.

Microsoft will give users who download the Bing app or set Bing as the default search on their PCs priority access to the new version of Bing. The company said that “millions” of people on the waiting list will be invited to try the new AI integration experience “in the coming weeks.
