Microsoft Azure OpenAI Service Launches ChatGPT Preview

0

At Build 2022, Microsoft launched the Azure OpenAI Preview service, which provides customers with a way to leverage some of the most advanced AI language models in a variety of use cases. Earlier this year, Microsoft officially went live with the Azure OpenAI service and will be accessing OpenAI models across multiple product lines. With Azure OpenAI Services, Azure Global Edition enterprise customers can directly invoke OpenAI models, including GPT-3, Codex and DALL. And the promise that ChatGPT for enterprise users will soon be available on the global version of Azure as well.

Now, Microsoft has delivered on that promise with a preview version of ChatGPT in Azure OpenAI services, enabling developers to take advantage of a variety of AI-driven scenarios.

With Azure ChatGPT, the existing chatbot experience can now be enhanced for more efficient customer support and better claims processing automation. In addition, Azure Cognitive Services can be combined with Azure OpenAI services in powerful ways, such as knowledge-based retrieval of a company’s own data and more “trusted” responses to build and improve interaction patterns.

Microsoft highlighted a variety of customers that will leverage chatbots in Azure OpenAI services, including Office Depot, Singapore’s Smart National Digital Government Office and Icertis. Carl Brisco, Vice President of Product and Technology at Odyssey Office, commented on the company’s interest in using ChatGPT in this way, noting.

“Office Depot (ODP) Corporation is excited to be able to leverage the powerful ChatGPT AI technology in the Azure OpenAI service, which is made possible through our partnership with Microsoft. This technology will help [Office Depot Corporation] more effectively drive the ongoing transformation of our business, explore new possibilities, and design innovative solutions that deliver greater value to our customers, partners and colleagues. […] By leveraging ChatGPT’s natural language processing and machine learning capabilities, [Office Depot Corporation] aims to streamline its internal operations and drive business success.”

Microsoft Azure OpenAI service customers can start using ChatGPT today, but billing will begin on March 13 for $0.002 / 1k tokens (equals $2.70 per 1 million words output, currently about RMB 19).
