Micron announced the launch of a new generation of DDR5 memory modules, covering DDR5-5200/5600, with a maximum capacity of 48GB version.

Micron’s next-generation DDR5 memory supports data transfer rates of 5200 MT/s and 5600 MT/s, and CL46 latency at 1.1V.

DDR5-5600 DIMMs are available in traditional 8GB, 16GB and 32GB versions, as well as newer 24GB and 48GB versions. DDR5-5200 memory is only available in 8GB, 16GB and 32GB versions.

These memory modules are compatible with AMD EXPO and Intel XMP 3.0 profiles for quick setup and are designed for desktops running AMD’s Raider 7000 series and Intel’s 12th/13th generation Core processors.

The new 24GB and 48GB versions appear to be more cost-effective and can be composed of 48GB or 96GB of dual-channel memory, which is more ideal for CPUs with 16 or 24 cores.

Micron has not yet disclosed the suggested retail price for its DDR5-5200 and DDR5-5600 memory. However, according to TrendForce, demand for PCs will be low in the first quarter of 2023, and with DDR5 SDRAM prices set to drop 18-23 percent in the first quarter of 2023, new memory modules are expected to be relatively cheap.
