Micron announced that it is shipping new DDR SDRAM for AMD’s fourth-generation EPYC Genoa “Zen 4” CPUs in volume.

This is the industry’s first scalable memory to meet the bandwidth requirements of growing processor cores, supporting 4800 MT/s today and 8800 MT/s in the future. 4800 MT/s DDR5 from Micron provides two times the effective memory bandwidth compared to 3200 MT/s DDR4, and also supports features such as ECC error checking and ECS fault limiting.

In addition, Micron says DDR5 will bring new and higher densities with the 24Gb component, with higher densities coming in the future.

AMD’s new AMD EPYC processor is the fastest and most energy-efficient processor in the world, according to AMD.
