This week that Micron Technology released new firmware for its 7450 NVMe SSD that is compliant with the Open Compute Project Data Center NVMe SSD 2.0 (OCP SSD 2.0) specification.

The Micron 7450 SSDs are available in capacities ranging from 400GB to 15.36TB and feature data protection security. The Micron 7450 SSD with OCP SSD 2.0 is currently shipping to select customers.

With the latest firmware upgrade, Micron said the 7450 SSD will continue to offer flexible deployment options (including U.2 / U.3, E1.S and M.2 form factors), lower latency and higher quality of service.

The upgrade will enable cloud and enterprise data center operators to further accelerate time-to-market and reduce operational costs, according to the report. Micron’s 7450 SSDs feature the OCP SSD 2.0 specification, which provides intelligent management, performance optimization, seamless integration and error handling. Latency monitoring enables the tracking, diagnosis and remediation of latency issues to help improve performance.

In addition, management commands allow for standardized control over features such as namespace and security, making it easier to integrate with OCP-compliant management systems. 7450 SSD’s error recovery and error injection features are compatible with the OCP SSD 2.0 specification, enabling quick recovery of the drive and simulating errors commonly encountered in data centers.
