Meta Quest 3 VR headset details and design revealed

After previously breaking news that a Meta Quest Pro high-end VR headset was on the way, available intel reveals more details about next year’s Meta Quest 3 VR.

YouTuber @Brad Lynch previously revealed key details about the Meta Quest Pro, and now he’s brought some more details about the Meta Quest 3 VR headset.

It’s said to be a more expensive, more powerful wireless VR headset, cheaper than the Pro and entry-level in terms of features. But that doesn’t mean it’s the same as the Meta Quest 2. One of the biggest changes is a lens called a pancake lens.

These lenses are thinner and lighter, so it’s better for long gaming sessions, while potentially reducing the overall weight of the headset.

Unlike the Pico 4 VR headset, the headset’s battery still appears to be located in the visor, so it may still be a little heavy. Unlike the previous Meta Quest, the IPD slider is expected to return in Meta Quest 3, which will provide a more comfortable experience for players.

The headset will reportedly use the yet-to-be-released Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 chip, which is likely to be more power efficient than the previous generation Meta Quest.

However, unlike the Meta Quest Pro, the Meta Quest 3 does not have any form of the face or eye tracking, so there is a large experience gap between it and the Pro.

The upcoming Meta Quest Pro has been revealed by a gaming anchor on Facebook, the device comes in a box with the name Meta Quest Pro and the words “not for resale – engineering samples”, and the VR headset has three cameras on the front.

Meta will be holding its annual VR conference, Connect, on October 11, and we can expect to see the Meta Quest Pro, a high-end VR headset, being released.
