According to AFP local time on Saturday, Meta’s Chief Technology Officer Andrew Boz Bosworth told reporters at the Connect conference for developers, “Most people in the world will use our (technology) ) experienced generative AI for the first time.”

According to reports, Meta was once widely considered to be lagging behind competitors such as Microsoft, Google, and OpenAI in the field of AI, but Andrew Bosworth firmly said, “Meta is not lagging behind. Even before ChatGPT came out at the end of last year, we were already leading the way globally. It has enhanced its platform with AI.”

In his view, Meta wants users to get fast, high-quality search results even on their smartphones.

In November last year, Meta released a generative AI chatbot called “Galactica” that can write articles, solve math problems, and occasionally makeup answers. Meta shut it down “quickly” though. Earlier this year, Meta open-sourced the Llama 2 model so developers could tinker with it and create their own chatbots.

During Meta Connect 2023, Meta released a chatbot called “Meta AI” and reached a cooperation with Microsoft to integrate Bing search into Meta AI.

Meta AI is now available in beta in the United States. Users can access it through Meta’s social media and chat services, including WhatsApp, Messenger and Instagram.
