Mercedes-Benz launches EQ Series Performance Unlocked service in North America

Mercedes-Benz has previously launched a variety of subscription services, such as helping users to remotely start the vehicle on the phone, turn on the air conditioning in advance, remote one-touch window closing, check the status of the doors and windows, vehicle location, custom navigation by Gaode and many other functions.

Mercedes-Benz’s remote services, remote engine start and other features require additional payment to activate, 498 CNY a year. In the event that the vehicle doors and windows are closed and the battery has enough power, the owner can start the engine remotely, and the owner will be alerted via App and SMS after a successful start.

It’s worth noting that BMW received strong criticism a few months ago for offering subscriptions for certain options, such as heated seats, and BMW North America later had to issue a statement in defense.

Now Mercedes-Benz is taking this a step further by offering North American customers a performance “unlock” service that will give you access to the full performance potential of the EQ line of electric cars for an additional $1,200 per year (including taxes).

Simply put, this “acceleration boost” subscription service can further release the maximum horsepower and torque performance of your car, while also improving the overall vehicle performance.

It is said that after this subscription service is turned on, different models of the EQ series can get 0.8-1.0 seconds of assistance in terms of acceleration from 100 kilometers (0-60 miles), and the overall characteristics of the electric motor will also change. For example, you can choose ” Dynamic Driving Mode” to unlock additional performance.

EQE 350 4MATIC (up from 288 hp to 349 hp / 0-60 mph from 6.0 to 5.1 seconds)

EQE SUV 350 4MATIC (up from 288 hp to 349 hp / 0-60 mph from 6.2 to 5.2 seconds)

EQS 450 4MATIC (up from 355 hp to 443 hp / 0-60 mph from 5.3 to 4.5 seconds)

EQS SUV 4MATIC (up from 355 hp to 443 hp / 0-60 mph from 5.8 to 4.9 seconds)

"Improve your Mercedes-EQ performance
Driving Mercedes-EQ is a new experience every day – especially its powerful acceleration. The "acceleration boost" service takes this even further: increasing the output of the electric motor also significantly increases torque, giving you a faster 0-60 mph acceleration. From now on, you can feel the power of pushing back.

Your advantages are clear at a glance
The fine-tuned motor increases the maximum motor output (kW) of your Mercedes-EQ by 20 to 24%, depending on raw output, along with an increase in torque, allowing your vehicle to accelerate noticeably faster and more forcefully. This shaves around 0.8 to 0.9 seconds off the 0-60 mph time. This additional output is available in all DYNAMIC SELECT driver programs."
