Mercedes-Benz EQE EV launched with maximum range 613 kilometers, starts from 486,000 RMB

Benz’s new EQE pure electric SUV was officially launched today. The car made its debut at the 2023 Shanghai Auto Show. The first luxury pure electric SUV based on the EVA pure electric platform is being developed.

The new EQE has 4 models: the new EQE 350 4MATIC Pioneer Edition pure electric SUV, the new EQE 350 4MATIC luxury version pure electric SUV, the new EQE 500 4MATIC special edition pure electric SUV and the new EQE 500 4MATIC pure electric SUV, priced at 48.6 10,000 RMB, 510,000 RMB, 564,600 RMB, and 630,600 RMB.

The exterior design style of the new EQE pure electric SUV is similar to that of the EQE sedan. It adopts a closed grille and a penetrating LED light group. The headlights and grille are integrated, and the “meteor shower” intelligent digital headlights provide up to 2.6 million lighting pixels. The low-drag rim design is adopted, and the rearview mirror is fixed on the door panel. The tail has a full shape and is equipped with a through-type taillight group. The length, width and height of the car are 4880/2032/1679 mm respectively, and the wheelbase is 3030 mm.

In terms of interior, the new EQE pure electric SUV adopts a super-sized triple screen design (optional), with a multi-function steering wheel and multi-color ambient lights, and the air-conditioning outlet adopts a turbofan shape. The car can also be equipped with the latest MBUX super-connected screen system, which uses a zero-level interface, and all key applications are displayed on the top layer, eliminating redundant operation steps. The system measures 141 centimeters wide, and the three displays blend together almost seamlessly, including a separate OLED display for the front passenger.

In terms of configuration, the new EQE pure electric SUV provides active ambient lighting, luminous star signs, dynamic luminous welcome lights, luminous welcome pedals, simulated sound waves, and AutoNavi customized navigation, etc. In terms of safety, the car provides an attention assist system, active brake assist system, active lane keeping assist system, etc., and an enhanced version of driving assistance is optional. For the Chinese market, the car has also added 10 exclusive configurations including the “boss key” and comfortable rear headrests, and NVH optimization, including double-layer silent glass for the front row and a vehicle acoustic package.

In terms of power, the new EQE pure electric SUV is equipped with dual motors and a four-wheel drive system. The battery pack capacity is 96.1 kWh, which can provide a maximum output power of 215 kW (350 models) and 300 kW (500 models), and the maximum cruising range under CLTC conditions is 613 kilometers, supports 4-speed kinetic energy recovery intensity adjustment and is equipped with a heat pump system. The maximum charging power of the car is 128 kilowatts, and the charging time from 10% to 80% is 48 minutes. The car is also equipped with a four-wheel drive disconnect device and a rear-wheel active steering system to improve energy efficiency and handling. It is noticed that the new car also supports optional air suspension (AIRMATIC) with Adaptive Damping System Plus (ADS+) (available in the future), which can raise the vehicle chassis by 30 mm to increase ground clearance.

Mercedes-Benz stated that it will provide pure electric models in all market segments from 2022; all newly released model architectures from 2025 will be pure electric platforms, and each model will provide pure electric versions chosen. At the same time, Mercedes-Benz plans to release three pure electric vehicle architecture platforms in 2025: MB.EA, AMG.EA and VAN.EA.
