According to “Autocar”, Mercedes-Benz performance division AMG has launched a plan to develop a “super SUV” based on its own pure electric platform. This new car will be positioned as a flagship product and will be launched in 2026. Year debut. The car will not be based on existing Mercedes-Benz models and will be developed entirely by AMG, with unique styling and interior layout. According to sources, the length of this new car can reach 5100mm and the wheelbase exceeds 3000mm to provide spacious interior space and diverse expandability. Its “comparison model” BMW XM has a length of 5110mm and a wheelbase of 3105mm.

In terms of other configurations, the car is built on an 800V electric architecture and will be equipped with an axial flux motor and a specially developed MB.OS car-machine system, which is internally called “AMG.OS”.

The axial flux motor equipped with the new car will be developed by Yasa, a company acquired by AMG. It weighs only 59 pounds (Note: approximately 26.786 kilograms) and can output 486 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque. It is reported that the platform developed by AMG can support a maximum four-motor all-wheel drive configuration.

This means that AMG’s new pure electric SUV is expected to bring power well over 1,000 horsepower, and also has advanced four-wheel drive and torque vectoring technology.

The all-electric SUV will be produced at Mercedes-Benz’s Sindelfingen plant in Germany, along with the new GT four-door coupe. According to sources at the factory, preparations are currently underway for two new pure-electric AMG models, which will be produced on the same line.
