MediaTek plans to launch its first 3nm in-vehicle chip in 2024

According to DigitimesAsia, MediaTek’s senior vice president and general manager of the CCM division, Jerry Yu, said yesterday that MediaTek plans to launch its first 3nm in-vehicle chip next year and mass produce it in 2025 at the earliest.

The 3nm in-vehicle chip is expected to be produced by TSMC, according to a previous report by T Guest, MediaTek has previously planned to start selling next year using TSMC’s 3nm chip process and is expected to adopt the N3E solution in December this year.

Jerry Yu said “MediaTek has been exploring the field of automotive chips for a long time and has accumulated a wealth of experience and technology reserves. Will be committed to providing advanced solutions for automakers in the future.”

In addition, it is noted that on May 29, Nvidia CEO Jen-Hsun Huang and MediaTek CEO Li-Hsing Tsai announced a partnership at Computex Taipei 2023, in which they will jointly develop automotive SoCs that integrate Nvidia’s GPU chiplet, which enables interconnection between the chiplets and will provide a complete AI intelligent cockpit solution for software-defined cars.

MediaTek and Nvidia will also jointly launch a comprehensive AI smart cockpit solution with pre-installed Nvidia DriveOS, Drive IX, CUDA and TensorRT software technologies.
