MediaTek: Expected fourth quarter revenue down about 20% sequentially

MediaTek’s revenue in November was NT$36.12 billion (about RMB 8.235 billion), up 8.2 percent sequentially and down 19.7 percent year-on-year, in line with market expectations, according to Taiwan’s Economic Daily News.

According to the legal person organization, the distribution of new mobile phones by customers and the shipment of the flagship mobile phone chip Dimensity 9200 have driven the growth of revenue from the previous month. The inventory is still being destocked, and the high inflation rate in Europe and the United States may suppress the demand for electronic products. Although the worst situation has passed, the demand has not seen a significant recovery.

Taiwan media pointed out that MediaTek expects revenue to drop by about 20% quarter-on-quarter in the fourth quarter. Due to weaker terminal demand and increased price pressure on some products, the gross profit margin will be slightly lower than that in the third quarter of the foundry price is not cut for the time being. It is estimated that the net profit after tax for the whole quarter will decrease by about 40% quarter-on-quarter.

Looking forward to 2022, MediaTek’s annual after-tax net profit is expected to be NT$116 billion (approximately RMB 26.448 billion), a year-on-year increase of 4%, and EPS (earnings per share) will be approximately NT$72.5 (approximately RMB 17).
