Arm yesterday announced the new Cortex-X4, Cortex-A720 and Cortex-A520 CPU cores+ after MediaTek officially confirmed that the Dimensity 9300 platform will use Arm’s new mobile processor core IP, including the new Cortex-X4 super core and Cortex-A720 performance cores, the overall performance will be significantly improved.

Today’s digital blogger @ Digital Gossip Station broke the news that the new architecture of 4 Cortex-X4 super cores + 4 Cortex-A720 large cores will be used in the 9300, which will deter Apple’s A17 processor in terms of performance and reduce power consumption by more than 50% compared to the 9200.

According to Arm, the new core design is significantly more energy efficient, while also enhancing security and scalability. The Cortex-X4, the flagship product, offers an average 15% increase in performance compared to last year’s Cortex-X3 core, and a 40% reduction in power consumption at the same frequency, with only a 10% increase in core area. The A520 is a low-power core with a 22% improvement in energy efficiency over its predecessor.

The Immortalis G720 is the flagship GPU core of the MediaTek 9300, with a power efficiency improvement of 15%, peak performance improvement of 15%, and an average frame rate increase of 15% compared to last year’s Immortalis G715. The G720 comes standard with hardware-level ray tracing as the flagship GPU core. In addition, Arm has introduced Deferred Vertex Shading (DVS) technology to the Immortalis G720 to reduce memory and bandwidth usage, resulting in power savings and higher frame rates on the display.
