Mazda applies for two new trademarks for Mazda EZ-6/EZ-60

Recently, according to the China Trademark Network, Mazda has applied for two new trademarks in China, “MAZDA EZ-6” and “MAZDA EZ-60”. According to previous news, it is speculated that the new trademark may be reserved for a new pure electric vehicle jointly developed by Mazda and Changan. Among them, the first model, internally codenamed J90A, is expected to be officially released at the 2024 Beijing Auto Show.

Based on previous domestic media reports, Mazda’s two new models, internally codenamed J90A and J90A-REEV, will be built based on Changan’s EPA hybrid platform (the same platform as Changan Deep Blue SL03 (Panoramic Viewing Car)). They are compatible with pure electric and extended-range power and are expected to be launched in 2024. Released at the Beijing Auto Show. Two new vehicles, internally codenamed J90K and J90K-REEV, will be launched in 2025; NEV SUV and NEV CAR are planned for 2026. Therefore, the two trademarks “MAZDA EZ-6” and “MAZDA EZ-60” may mean that Mazda’s new energy products will have a new naming system.

On January 16, at the 2024 Changan Automobile Global Partner Conference, regarding the cooperation between Changan and Mazda brands, Changan Automobile Chairman Zhu Huarong said that the two parties will establish a closer communication mechanism. The cooperation projects include J90A (internally codenamed new model), J90K In addition to models, it is expected to build 3-4 electrified products in the next five years. The two parties will actively promote the export of electric products produced in China, and will study overseas OEM cooperation opportunities, while building localization capabilities across the entire value chain, striving to achieve a scale of 550,000 vehicles in 2028.
