Longest tunnel group of Meilong high-speed railway is completed, takes 1.5 hours to Guangzhou

Meilong railroad construction has made significant progress, by the Twelve Bureau of China Railway construction of the Meizhou (Longchuan) railroad Mao Gongzhai tunnel ahead of the nodal period 15 days victory through, become the first line through the 2 km class long tunnel, through the eastern part of Guangdong mountains and water barrier, for the Meilong high-speed railway completed and opened to traffic to lay a solid foundation. The tunnel opening marks the longest tunnel group of Meilong high-speed railway line, Meilong high-speed railway from Jingnan to Yonghe town tunnel group.

Meilong Railway is about 93.9 kilometers long, interconnected with the original Meishan High Speed Railway and linked with Gangshen High Speed Railway in the west, which is an integral part of the high-speed passenger corridor connecting Guangdong’s eastern region to central and northern China, and also an important transportation artery connecting the old revolutionary areas in eastern Guangdong to the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Bay Area.

Meilong high-speed railway is fully connected to Meizhou West Station and Longchuan West Station. According to the construction plan, Meilong high-speed railway is expected to be opened to traffic at the end of June 2024. After the completion of the high-speed railway line, the travel time from Meizhou to Guangzhou will be shortened from 6 hours to 1.5 hours.
