Linux Kernel 5.19.12 is not compatible with Intel graphics driver: causes splash screen

Linux Kernel 5.19.12 is suspected to be incompatible with Intel’s i915 graphics driver, resulting in various failures. For example, one of the users reported that a Lenovo laptop equipped with Intel Core i7-1065G7 was running Fedora 35 with a strange flickering screen.

Other users have reported similar issues on Intel’s 11th-generation chips. The user confirmed that downgrading to the previous version 5.19.11 solves the problem:

"On my laptop (Lenovo Legion 5 Gen7 15IAH7H, Alder Lake i7-12700H), when I boot this kernel, the laptop's internal screen seems to flicker between "on but completely black" and "off" around every second, without actually showing anything."

Affected users on the Framework community forums have been raising the issue for nearly a week now, and it looks like Intel Linux kernel engineer Ville Syrjäl discovered the problem. Syrjäl says that the Panel Power Sequencing (PPS) delay is vulnerable and could even damage LCD panels. He wrote.

"After reviewing some logs, we did find a potential false panel power sequencing delay, which could damage the LCD panel.

[...] I would recommend restoring these immediately and releasing a new stable version as soon as possible. Plus one more suggestion, no one is running 5.19.12 with a laptop equipped with an Intel GPU."
