LG’s third-generation OLED TV panel with 60% and 30% brightness and viewing angle improvements

LG in this year’s CES released a new generation of OLED TV, equipped with the latest third-generation of OLED TV panels. According to LG Display official news, its third generation OLED TV panel products, use a new innovative technology – META Technology.

LG Display introduces the new META Technology, a technology that combines microlenses that maximize the release of organic light and enhanced luminance algorithm technology to increase energy efficiency by approximately 22% and achieve a new level of OLED brightness and viewing angle. The brightness and viewing angle of the screen of products using this technology has increased by 60% and 30% respectively.

In detail, the third generation of OLED TV panels announced by LG Display has significantly increased the maximum brightness of previous products from 1300nit to 2100nit (HDR standard), achieving the highest brightness among existing OLED TV panels. In addition, with the advantages of OLED’s perfect blacks and META Technology’s ultra-high brightness, the panel not only accurately expresses natural light and color accuracy, restoring the color and feel of the original work to be displayed, but also creates a sense of immersion that seamlessly transitions between virtual and reality.

LG Display says that up to now, a significant portion of the light generated by the organic light-emitting layer cannot be transmitted due to reflection from within the panel, so there are limitations in increasing brightness. LG Display has overcome this problem with the Micro Lens Array (MLA). The technology is based on vaporizing self-emitting organic matter on a tiny protruding lens pattern that is invisible to the eye to achieve maximum light output.

LG Display will be equipped with Meta Technology on its 4K 55-inch, 65-inch, 77-inch and 8K 77-inch, 88-inch high-end OLED TV panels in mass production this year, and will expand to the entire product lineup in the future.
