According to the report, LG New Energy has selected companies such as LT Precision and Dongwon Systems as component suppliers for its 4680 next-generation cylindrical battery, and these suppliers will provide cylindrical tanks for the 4680 battery and cylindrical safety components.
Samsung SDI’s partners include Shinheung SEC and Sangsin EDP to provide housing and safety components for next-generation cylindrical batteries.
Samsung SDI is developing a battery with a diameter of 46㎜. It is said that its height will be around 80㎜. Although the performance of the 4680 battery is better than the existing 2170 battery, they intend to use the new component to bring higher fire risk prevention and control capability.
It is said that in addition to developing cylindrical battery components, they are also preparing for new investments in overseas cylindrical battery components.
