According to the latest news, LG Electronics is using Samsung Display’s OLED panel in its first OLED laptops.

LG unveiled its new Gram Style series of laptops at CES 2023, available in 14-inch and 16-inch models. Sources revealed to thelec that the two laptops are currently being manufactured using rigid OLED panels from Samsung Display.

The rigid panel uses a glass substrate, which is cheaper than the flexible OLED panel that uses plastic. Samsung Display is currently producing rigid panels at its A2 factory in South Korea. These panels are aimed at IT products such as mid-range smartphones and laptops.

Samsung Display’s rival LG Display does not produce rigid OLED panels, but only supplies flexible OLED panels for Apple’s iPhone and Apple Watch, as well as for premium cars.

LG Display can use its flexible OLED panel production facility to make rigid OLED panels, but it will cost more than the line originally designed to make rigid OLED panels, the sources said. Meanwhile, the latest supply agreement is the first time Samsung Display has supplied OLED panels to LG.

The new LG Gram Style comes in two new sizes, 14 and 16, with an aspect ratio of 16:10. The 16-inch display has a resolution of 3200 x 2000 and a refresh rate of 120Hz, while the 14-inch display has a resolution of 2880 x 1800 and a refresh rate of 90Hz. The specific parameters of the notebook are as follows.
