LG Display plans to produce 9.2 million large OLED panels next year

Reports in the Korean media indicate that LG Display, which has a clear advantage in large OLED panels, has set a target for next year, as they plan to produce 9.2 million large OLED panels.

According to reports in the Korean media, of the large OLED panels LG Display plans to produce next year, 5.4 million will be produced at its Guangzhou plant and the remaining 3.8 million at its Paju plant in South Korea.

If LG Display’s plan to produce 9.2 million large OLED panels next year is true, it would mean that production would continue to increase year-on-year, up 1.4 million from this year’s planned shipment target of 7.8 million.

It’s worth noting that the Korean media report also mentions that LG Display’s apparent plan to produce 9.2 million large OLED panels does not include the portion that may be supplied to Samsung.

Previously there was news that Samsung’s OLED TVs, planned to use quantum dot OLED panels produced by Samsung Display, but due to limited production capacity, they may purchase large OLED panels from LG Display, the two companies have also conducted negotiations, LG Display hopes to supply 2 million to Samsung this year, but the two sides of the negotiations in May this year has stopped, LG Display this year 7.8 million large size LG Display’s target of shipping 7.8 million large OLED panels this year may also be difficult to achieve.
