According to foreign media reports, according to industry sources, South Korean LCD panel maker LG Display may continue to scale back LCD TV panel production after closing its 7.5-generation panel plant in Paju, South Korea, at the end of 2022.

In early December 2022, foreign media reported that LG Display planned to stop producing LCD TV panels in South Korea in 2022. At the time, foreign media, citing sources familiar with the matter, reported that the company was producing LCD panels for TVs at its P7 plant in Paju, South Korea, but that the plant would stop producing LCD TV panels in mid-December 2022 or by the end of December 2022.

At the end of December 2022, according to foreign media reports, Rakin Display will stop producing LCD TV panels in South Korea.

Rakin Display is one of the world’s largest manufacturers and suppliers of thin-film transistor liquid crystal display (TFT-LCD) panels, organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) and flexible displays, dominating the global market for large OLED TV screens. The company produces displays for a range of companies, including certain models of Apple’s iPhone.

The company is said to be focusing on the OLED TV panel and automotive markets, and will work to develop new markets for transparent and gaming OLEDs.
