Tesla has caused controversy after updating the Model S and Model X with the Yoke shaped steering wheel a few years ago and Tesla did not offer a traditional round steering wheel as an alternative.
Tesla later decided it would offer a retrofit for owners who wanted a round steering wheel instead of a Yoke steering wheel, and Tesla began offering a round steering wheel retrofit earlier this month, and apparently the new round steering wheel is so popular that this offering is now sold out.
Tesla began offering the round steering wheel conversion service on March 15 for up to $700 (currently about RMB 4,809). It can be purchased through the Tesla app, which will then schedule a Tesla service appointment, with the cost of installation included in the purchase price.
Tesla did not reveal how many round steering wheel conversion kits are available for the Model S and Model X, but the fact that the product sold out in just eight days still shows that this conversion kit is very popular among owners, and it seems that many owners still can’t adapt to the Yoke steering wheel.
