Lenovo-Motorola global smartphone shipments were down 15%

Strategy Analytics reported that Lenovo-Motorola — global smartphone shipments fell 15 percent year-over-year in Q3 2022. However, wholesale revenue grew 4 percent year-over-year, with double-digit wholesale ASP growth at a record high; the company managed to remain profitable for eight consecutive quarters, and the U.S. continues to hold a major market share, but Asia-Pacific and Western Europe are catching up.

Lenovo-Motorola delivered its highest-ever wholesale revenue in Q3 2022, primarily due to the launch of the G Series and Edge Series models. Despite a 15 percent year-over-year decline in shipments, wholesale revenue grew 4 percent year-over-year, driven by an increase in average selling price.

Lenovo-Motorola, the Americas (North, Central and Latin America) remain the sweet spot, but Western Europe and the Asia Pacific (mainly India) are catching up.

Lenovo-Motorola scores 3.1 out of 5, with the review seeing Lenovo as a vendor that is rapidly emerging and changing the game.
