Following last year’s Leica Leitz Phone 1, the Leitz Phone 2 was unsurprisingly released after a year. In fact, the new device shares its key hardware with the Sharp Aquos R7, but it offers a more robust design with metallic textured sides, Leitz branding and a metal cover for the rear camera.

The Leitz Phone 2 is equipped with a 6.6-inch IGZO OLED screen with a resolution of 2730 x 1260 px, a panel refresh rate of 240Hz and a 16-megapixel selfie camera located on the front perforated. The back side also has a 47-megapixel primary camera with a 1-inch-sized image sensor. Notably, Sharp and Leica co-developed the image sensor to include seven Leica Semiran lenses with F/1.9 aperture and 19mm focal length, and users will get a 1.9-megapixel portrait-specific sensor. The rest of the specs include a Snapdragon 8 Gen1 chipset, 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, and a 5,000 mAh battery.

The Leica Leitz Phone 2 is only available in a single Leica white model and is scheduled to be available in Japan on November 18, 2022. Pricing is JPY 225,360, or about $1540.
