Latest Apple iPhone 15 Pro / Max renders out, new silent button raises concerns

9to5Mac @ianzelbo drew a new rendering of the iPhone 15 Pro based on its sources, details given by the MFi accessory manufacturer, and CAD data. The model has two significant external changes.

Multiple sources have mentioned that Apple’s next-generation iPhone 15 Pro series will be equipped with special “touch buttons,” and 9to5Mac has also obtained this information through MFi manufacturers.

But alas, news broke the other week: due to production issues, the new long “touch buttons” have been scrapped in favor of more traditional volume buttons. CAD files obtained by 9to5Mac today also confirm the change, but the previously mentioned “mute button” will remain.

Instead of the solid-state buttons you’ve come to expect, Apple appears to be reverting to the traditional separate volume button design. However, this year’s iPhone 15 Pro will also have a major change, and that is this new mute button.

This button replaces the mute switch used in the iPhone 14 Pro, and it will add additional functionality, similar to the action button on the Apple Watch Ultra.

It should be noted that in order to distinguish the iPhone 15 Pro series from the basic 15 models, Apple’s iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus will still stick to the existing switch design.

On the other hand, the iPhone’s rear lens bump in the latest renders is much more plausible than in previous renders. Although this year’s camera will still be more convex, it is far less exaggerated than before.

According to the existing news, the Apple iPhone 15 Pro series will use a 48MP outsole main camera similar to the iPhone 14 Pro series, and will introduce a new periscope zoom lens, which can achieve 5-6x optical zoom (iPhone 14 Pro has a maximum of 3x optical zoom), so it is understandable that it is more convex.

In addition to showing the new mute button and rumors about the camera, this rendering also confirms many design details in the previous CAD model, such as further narrowing of the frame, and the USB-C interface that everyone is thinking about. The entire frame will be much rounder than the current iPhone 14 series.
