Kandji Launches New Device Harmony Platform to Simplify Mac IT and Information Security Operations

0

After launching in 2019 to help enterprises manage their Apple devices, Kandji set out to do more. Today, Kandji announced its new Device Harmony platform, which is designed to bridge the gap between enterprise IT and information security teams so they can truly work together to keep every Apple user safe and productive.

Kandji’s Device Harmony platform enables IT and information security capabilities not previously available on the Kandji platform. Device Management, Vulnerability Management, Endpoint Detection and Response, Endpoint Visibility and Endpoint Compliance. The new platform provides the intelligence, automation and workflow needed to support IT and information security teams working cross-functionally.

Vulnerability Management
IT and information security need vulnerability intelligence linked to devise management so they can remediate issues faster. device Harmony’s vulnerability management capabilities provide a complete view of security vulnerabilities across macOS, the description, history and severity of each vulnerability, which software is affected and the device on which that software resides. Teams can take immediate action to eliminate or mitigate vulnerabilities by using Kandji to upgrade applications, block applications, or run scripts to uninstall applications as needed. instead of taking a periodic scan approach, Kandji uses a lightweight service built into a proprietary Kandji agent running on the mac. Kandji leverages apple’s endpoint security framework to listen for application-related events to determine if new vulnerabilities have been introduced or patched – providing vulnerability insight in real-time.

Endpoint detection and response
IT and information security teams must have access to the same data and systems so that threats can be detected and responded to as quickly as possible without negatively impacting productivity. Device Harmony’s Endpoint Detection and Response provides advanced threat detection for the Mac from the moment it is powered on. The Kandji agent terminates malicious processes and quarantines any files involved in them.

Kandji’s approach combines pre- and post-execution methods to create a solution that can catch almost any type of malware. It reduces the risk of malware executing and security software failing to stop it in time or at all. Post-execution methods detect threats without the need to see the malware beforehand. They are based on the typical actions taken by malicious code at the time of execution.

All of Kandji’s Device Harmony capabilities, including endpoint detection and response, device management and vulnerability management, will be deployed through the proprietary Kandji Agent. the Kandji Agent is designed to work directly on macOS because it is built with Swift. Kandji’s Device Harmony platform leverages Apple technology specific to mobile device management (MDM) solutions, ensuring that the Kandji agent is ready to install and activate.

Vulnerability management and endpoint detection and response are currently only available to select preview customers. Full availability will be made available to all customers in the coming weeks. In early 2023, Device Harmony will release Endpoint Visibility and Endpoint Compliance.
