Display analyst Ross Young today released estimates for display panel shipments and production for the iPhone 14 series, and the initial supply of the new 6.7-inch “iPhone 14 Max” may be a little shorter than some of the other “iPhone 14 Pro” models. Between June and September, the iPhone 14 Pro Max had the highest share of panel production at 28 percent of shipments. iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro followed at 26 percent each, but iPhone 14 Max was at least 19 percent. In terms of volume, iPhone 14 Pro Max accounted for 29 percent of production, while iPhone 14 Max accounted for 21 percent of production.
Ross Young said iPhone 14 Max display panel shipments will “take a large share in September,” suggesting that any initial supply issues at launch will be resolved soon.
During the iPhone 14 series development cycle, there were rumors that the production of the new 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Max was behind schedule due to an epidemic lockdown and production issues. But analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said at the time that suppliers would work overtime to catch up and we wouldn’t see an impact on device production or purchases.
The news reveals that the standard iPhone 14 model is expected to have few changes, but the iPhone 14 Pro model will include updated camera technology, the elimination of the bangs notch replaced by a “pill + single punch hole”, the A16 chip and more.
Apple plans to release a total of four iPhone 14 series models, including the 6.1-inch iPhone 14, 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Max, 6.1-inch iPhone 14 Pro and 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Pro Max.
