iPadOS 16 is released recently, but still issues with a pre-stage scheduling function

iPadOS 16 is scheduled for an official release this month, except that one of the system’s new features, Stage Manager, still has some issues. In the iPadOS 16 Beta released earlier this week, developer Steve Troughton Smith and Federico Viticci, editor-in-chief of tech media MacStories, highlighted some of the problems with Stage Manager.

The dock disappears with a black border when rotating the iPad

Content does not scale correctly after resizing the window

Keyboard input is not available in some apps

These problems include the Dock disappearing when the iPad is rotated, content not scaling correctly after a window is resized, keyboard input not working in some apps, and more.

In August this year, Wittig pointed out that Apple was “fundamentally misleading” about the front-of-house scheduling feature. The feature has been improved in the weeks since then, but it is clear from the latest beta that even with the imminent release of iPadOS 16, several issues remain.

Apple recently extended Stage Manager to older iPad Pro models with the A12X and A12Z chips released in 2018 and 2020, albeit without external display support, which limits functionality to four apps on the built-in displays of those models. Apple is also delaying external display support for iPad models with the M1 chip until later this year.
