Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reported earlier this month that Apple is developing a new system that will allow employees to upgrade iPhones without unpacking them. iOS system.

According to foreign technology media 9to5Mac, in the Xcode 15.1 Beta released by Apple today, three internal frameworks, FactoryOTALogger, FactoryOTANetworkUtils and FactoryOTAWifiUtils, were discovered in the iOS 17.2 Beta 1 SDK, which can implement wireless OTA firmware updates through special external devices.

In a previous report, the relevant scenarios were shared as follows:

The first batch of iPhone 15 models shipped out of the factory came with iOS 17 built-in, but when users purchased it, iOS 17.0.1 and even later new versions of the system had already been released. This means that users may have to spend time updating the software after opening the box of their new iPhone.

Regarding this move, Mark Gurman revealed that Apple has developed a special cushion-shaped device on which retail stores can place unopened iPhones. Then the system can wirelessly connect to and wake up the iPhone, and then Automatically download and install the latest version of iOS to complete the software update and finally shut down.

The report states that this feature is now clearly marked as an internal feature, which can install the latest iOS updates on sealed iPhone devices to avoid first-time issues similar to the iPhone 15 migration failure.
