In iOS 16.1 Beta, which went live yesterday, Apple has enabled a new Live Activities to feature that allows iPhone users to see what’s happening in real-time on the lock screen, such as the latest event scores, delivery orders, and more.
In the TV app, tapping the Follow button during a sporting event displays a Live Activity on the lock screen with a live scoreboard and play-by-play action, such as a baseball player striking out on a fastball.
Live Activity will be displayed at the bottom of the lock screen on iPhone 13 and earlier models. On iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, Live Activity will appear at the top of the lock screen on Dynamic Island, a new pill-shaped area around the Face ID sensor and a front-facing camera that expands to show system alerts and other content.
