The external media VideoCardz has received documentation of the upcoming MSI Z790 motherboard series, including specifications. The documents confirm that the Z790 motherboard supports DDR5-5600 specifications by default (4800 MT/s for Alder Lake).

As you can see from the specs below, the MSI MEG Z790 motherboard supports DDR5-5600 memory with 2DPC 2R by default and DDR5-6800 memory with up to 1DPC 1R. In comparison, the MSI MEG Z690 motherboard supports up to DDR5-6666.

In addition, the information revealed that the Z790 motherboard supports up to 1DPC 1R DDR4-5333 memory, while the Z690 motherboard supports up to DDR4-5200.

Intel will launch some of its 13th generations Core Raptor Lake CPUs and 700 series chipsets this fall, and the Z790 motherboards from major manufacturers will follow, so we can look forward to that.

In addition, the memory specifications for the X670E motherboard have not been revealed yet, so it is unclear if it will be faster than the memory supported by the Z790.

@Moore’s Law Is Dead broke the news that the Intel Z790 motherboard adds support for PCIe Gen 5 M.2 SSDs, but like AMD’s AM5 platform, not all motherboards support them, meaning that only high-end products support PCIe 5 M.2 SSDs, while mainstream products will not support PCIe 5 because it requires more The mainstream products will not support PCIe 5 because it requires more PCB layers and drive interfaces and therefore costs more.
