Intel is about to launch the NUC 13 Rugged fanless mini host, with a dust-proof chassis and passive cooling design, supporting 24/7 operation.

NUC Rugged is mainly used in warehouses, factories, digital signage or other scenarios with strict environmental requirements. The new NUC 13 Rugged, code-named “Bravo Canyon”, is upgraded to Intel Alder Lake-N chips.

The Bravo Canyon NUC also supports up to 16GB of DDR5-4800 RAM, which is user upgradeable thanks to SODIMM slots, and features 64GB of eMMC storage as well as an M.2 2280 slot for PCIe x2 NVMe storage and an optional SATA SSD M.2 3042 B-Key slot.

Intel will give customers the choice of a more compact model measuring 174 x 108 x 25.9 mm with only an internal heatsink, or a slightly taller version with an external heatsink with fins on top for enhanced cooling. This version is 3.58mm tall.

Both models are IP50 rated for dust resistance, support Windows 10 IoT Enterprise, Ubuntu 22.04 LTS and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9, and are equipped with the following ports, as listed below:

 2 x HDMI 2.1

 2 x 2.5GbE Ethernet Intel i26

 2 USB 3.2 Type0A ports

 2 USB 2.0 Type-A ports

Intel did not announce the price and release date of its products. FanlessTech’s Olivier reports that they are expected to be “extremely competitive” in price.
