With the 13th generation Raptor Lake desktop processors on sale, overclockers around the world can’t wait to push the limits of their CPU frequency. According to the report submitted on HWBot, a Swedish player named “emlor” has made the Core i9-13900K flagship desktop processor soar to an astonishing 8.812 GHz. For the past 8 years, this record has been held by the AMD FX-8370 (@ 8.722 GHz) in the “black box” era.

It is reported that emlor chose the liquid nitrogen (LN2) overclocking solution to cool the chip at -195.8 ℃.

At the same time, the voltage is set at 1.325V, the specified x88 frequency is multiplied, and the bus speed is maintained at 100.15 MHz.

The matching motherboard is an ASUS ROG Maximus Z790 APEX, supplemented by 32GB @ 4804 MT/s of G.SKILL DDR5 desktop memory.

In the end, despite being only 90 MHz higher than the FX-8370, we’re pretty happy to see the i9-13900K break the 8-year-old world record for overclocking an old CPU.
