The latest single-threaded CPU benchmark test from PassMark shows significant improvements in both clock frequency and instructions per cycle (IPC), with Intel’s 13900K coming out on top.

According to the list, the Intel Core i9-13900K scored 4,883 points, placing it at the top of the list. This 24-core i9 processor contains 8 performance cores and 16 efficiency cores that can be overclocked to 5.8GHz with Intel’s Thermal Velocity Boost (TVB) technology. TVB technology combined with the new architecture improves the score by more than 400 points over the previous single-threaded champion, the i9-12900KS.

Thermal Velocity Boost allows select Intel processors to unlock further performance when there is enough thermal headroom and extra power available. The technology, which debuted a few years ago, can drive more than 240W of power to the 13900K, boosting the two highest performing cores to more than 5.8GHz.

The release confirms previously reported rumors about the 13900K’s performance. Earlier this year, it was reported that the i9-13900K engineering sample had a full P-core RWD clock speed of 5.5GHz, with two loaded cores up to 5.8GHz. this increase represents a significant improvement over the previous generation’s flagship 12900K CPU.
