Instagram restricts private messaging, allowing only one text message to unfollowed users

According to foreign media Theverge reports, Instagram is strengthening the audit of the message, now only allows users to send a message invitation to unfollowed users, and can only contain text. This move means that users will no longer receive pictures, videos, or voice messages sent by strangers. Previously, Instagram allowed users to send an unlimited number of message requests.

The foreign media learned that if the user accepts the connection request, the other party can send more than one message, the message request is located in the Instagram DM page inbox above the “request” button.

In addition to introducing new message protections on Instagram, Meta is also introducing more robust parental controls on Instagram and Messenger, giving parents more detailed insight into their children’s behavior on both platforms.

As we know, parents and guardians can now view their child’s Messenger contact list as well as their privacy and security settings through Meta Family Center. Parents will also be notified if their child reports someone on the app – as long as their child has that setting enabled.
