Infineon has now launched the EZ-PD USB-C PD solution to support in-vehicle charging applications and multimedia sharing.

According to the introduction, this dual-port USB-C PD (charging) solution integrates a boost controller for in-vehicle charging applications, complies with the latest USB Type-C and PD3.1 specifications, and has received AEC Q-100 certification.

This USB-C PD solution can be specifically used for automotive applications that support a Display port, i.e. USB-C Alternate mode. Deployed on the Ideal L9, the solution not only enables charging of electronic devices using the USB port, but also connects them to the car for multimedia sharing. In addition, the EZ-PD CCG7D is particularly suitable for in-car charging applications such as head-up display chargers, car backseat chargers, car backseat entertainment systems, etc.

Infineon EZ-PD CCG7D charging solution introduction:

The CCG7D-based alternate mode solution is equipped with dual USB-C ports, one of which supports DP-Sink and the other DP-Source, thus creating a bi-directional multimedia entertainment center in the car that can charge USB devices while simultaneously transmitting video from a cell phone or personal computer (PC) to the car display and/or sending video to VR glasses. The CCG7D is highly integrated, effectively reducing BOM costs and board area, and is capable of delivering up to 100 W of output power to each port of the solution. In addition to the CCG7D, Infineon can also offer a single-port version, the EZ-PD CCG7S, which is also AEC Q-100 compliant.
