Indian officials meet Foxconn executives to lobby for opening a plant in Karnataka

India’s southern state of Karnataka is in serious talks with Foxconn over an investment plan to open a factory in the state and boost employment, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said yesterday.

Translated Bommai’s tweet as follows: “We are seriously discussing investment matters with Foxconn Technology Group (Foxconn) and look forward to fruitful cooperation. We are also committed to welcoming the best companies to the state and bringing rewards to our employees”.

Karnataka is a state in India located in southern India. As India’s information technology powerhouse, Bangalore, the capital of the state, is known as “India’s Silicon Valley”. Karnataka has a population of more than 60 million, making it one of the top 10 most populous states in India; Bangalore alone has a population of more than 4.5 million, but no other city in the state has a population of less than 1 million.
