The Chinese tech giant is preparing its next foldable device the Huawei Mate X3 which will launch in 2023 with an inward folding design.

Huawei’s dominance of the Chinese foldable smartphone market will intensify with the launch of the Huawei Mate X3. This device will launch next year, and unlike the Huawei Mate Xs 2, it’d feature an inward folding mechanism. This design will walk the path of the Huawei Mate X2.

According to our source, the development of this foldable device will start in the month of November. It’d feature some adjustments in weight, thickness, and durability. There is no leak (render or specifications) regarding this device at the moment. But going by the unique design of the Mate X2, we have an idea of what to expect.

Unlike any other foldable, the Huawei Mate X2 uses a design that isn’t even in its thickness. One end is thicker than the other, this is to evenly distribute the weight of the device when held in one hand. Its hinge is also free of any crease, and it uses a wide front screen.

Huawei may use some of these designs with the coming inward folding device. We know it will use a crease-free screen due to its hinge design. It’d also run HarmonyOS bringing multi-device collaboration to its users.

At launch, the Huawei foldable will go into competition with the likes of Samsung. Sadly, US sanctions if not eased off by the launch of this device will make it difficult for certain technology to find its way to this device. Such technology and features as 5G and core Google services might not come with this foldable device. This will give Samsung and other manufacturers an edge over Huawei.

These sanctions do not stop Huawei from maintaining its grip on the Chinese smartphone market. They don’t also stop Huawei from developing new technology, so we can be optimistic about the Huawei Mate XS. But in the meantime, we wait patiently for the launch of the Mate 50 series this year.
