Huawei Inside will power autonomous driving on the Arcfox Alpha-S

The Chinese tech giant (Huawei) isn’t an EV manufacturer, but its products such as Huawei Inside help EV manufacturers. To date, Huawei doesn’t have any electric vehicle to its name but has partnerships with manufacturers of these vehicles. Aito and Arcfox are just examples of manufacturers the Chinese tech giant has partnerships with.

In this article, we’ll focus on how Arcfox Alpha-S is benefiting from its partnership with Huawei. Mainly, the Huawei Inside system is what controls the autonomous driving of this new EV. This system helps take control of the vehicle at the command of its driver.

To help it achieve this, the Arcfox Alpha-S comes with 3 LiDAR sensors, 4 surround-view cameras, and 9 ADS cameras. For the radars on this EV, there are a total of 18 radars. Making this up are 6 millimetre-wave radars and 12 ultrasonic radars.

In combination, these camera sensors and radars help scan the car’s environment, passing what it’s sensing to the system. The Huawei Inside system will in turn comprehend the information and help guide the car in navigating the environment. To make this system work well, Huawei and BAIC engineers worked together for 1,200 days.

Huawei Inside system which is now live on the Arcfox Alpha-S gives the company an edge to grow its presence in the EV space. Autonomous driving is becoming a more dominant feature of EVs, and some companies like Tesla are still facing challenges with this. Just last week Tesla’s AI expert left the company, creating a vacuum in its autonomous driving development. Huawei can steal this opportunity and push its Inside system to more Chinese EV manufacturers like Aito hence growing its presence in the field.
